YAY!!!!! I've been on bator watch for the last few days as my chicks are due to hatch tomorrow, and I went out this afternoon with my kids, and I went to check the eggs after we got back and one of the eggs had pipped! The whole family came running to see, it was so exciting! What made it even more exciting is that it is an egg that I didn't expect to hatch, I thought it might have died because it stopped moving two days ago. The one that has been moving around like mad hasn't pipped yet. We are sooooooooo happy. I'll keep watching and praying that this baby makes it out. As soon as they hatch, I will update this post to let everyone know. I can hardly wait!

Well, this morning when we woke up this morning we all headed straight for the incubator to check and see how far along the one that had pipped last night had gotten, and we were a little disappointed to find that it hadn't really made much progress. We can see the beak, and it's breathing and pulling at the exposed membrane around the hole it had pipped through yesterday, but it still hasn't zipped. While we were watching the egg that had been bouncing around just three days earlier but had suddenly stopped moving two days ago and I thought maybe it had died, pipped! Man did it pip! This chick must have been taking karate classes inside it's egg cause it literally blew out a big section of the shell on the side and we could immediately see the baby! Well, that baby has been in motion with nary a break since it pipped, and about 2 minutes ago it completely hatched! YAY!!!!! It is the cutest thing I have ever seen! It has monster long legs for a chick and it is a pale yellow color, but it's precious! It also looks like it has a little chipmunk stripe over it's eyes, which is something I didn't expect since it's suppose to be either a Welsummer, an Orpington, or a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, or a mix of two of those. This baby hatched out of a very pale light brown egg, and I mean VERY pale. It was almost cream in color, so what exactly this chick is, I have no idea, I just know that I love it already! My ten year old wants to name the baby Independence, and call it Indie for short. I think that's cute. The second egg is still moving and the baby is alive, it just isn't hatching yet. I really hope it does though, and I hope a few of the others hatch too, but I'd be happy if just these two hatch! Thanks for all the great hatching vibes everyone, keep 'em coming so the other chick successfully makes it out too!

I'm on bator watch right now too! 4 out of 11 silkies hatched. The first two that hatched were ones that barely/never moved for me too. I wonder why?

My one that pipped hasn't gotten any farther yet. I assume the chick is sleeping.

I know it's a long process, I'm just so excited to find that my incubator has worked well enough to get my little babies this far. I don't know why some of mine, or yours for that matter, stopped moving. I guess they will be larger chicks? Less leg room in the shell? Just a theory. No one has hatched yet here, but we're watching. My 10 year old is standing over the bator watching now for signs of movement. She can't wait for them to hatch either. Neither can my 9 year old. They've been alternating who watches the incubator since we got home this afternoon, lol. Oh I hope we have a baby by morning! I'm almost afraid to go to bed tonight for fear I miss something, or in case something goes wrong. But I will, cause I have work tomorrow afternoon. I tell you, I already want more eggs to hatch! I'm hooked!

wow that is sooo awsome! im hopeing for pip's in just 2 short day's!!!

Did you spread your eggs around in the bator to give them room to hatch or are they just still in a group??

First chick is out completely and staggering around, and I guess that motivated the chick that had pipped last night to get it's butt moving if it wanted out of it's shell too, and it just did a karate chop of it's own and now half the shell is open and now I can see another sweet little honey colored chick inside. This one should hatch shortly too. Oh, I really hope one of the little pale blueish ones hatch. There was a dark mass inside the one and it was moving this morning. ***Saying prayers that it does***
