WE HAVE EGGS! Now, what color are they? What breed is this hen?

Hmmm... the fact that she's out and about and not laying seems strange- normally they lay about once a day. If they're not laying I would expect them to be broody(sitting on eggs for 3 weeks to hatch chicks). Since she obviously isn't broody she must have a hidden nest somewhere-so you should probably lock her up so she will have no choice but to lay in her enclosure.

Good Luck and ...

The Stress of moving a chicken from one place to another can halt laying.
I would set up a box with some hay, and be patient.

She is very nice looking BTW,

Someone suggested a Blue Copper Maran for her. Any more suggestions? What ever we end up with I'd like a lot of so the requirements are:

1) pretty bird and a cross with her and the pure bred will make a nice cross
2) good egg layer
3) friendly (this hen is very flighty and I can't get within 20 ft of her)
4) must be big enough to free range safely (mostly from hawks)
5) meat

Here's another lemon blue I think she's got a little of this: http://www.bantamclub.com/photos/displayimage.php?album=toprated&cat=-6&pos=0

I need her to lay an egg now. If she lays a brown egg, would that mean she's got some penedescendo due to her white ear lobes?

If she is a game hen then she will be a good layer of off white eggs and she could get friendly but it will take time as far as free range game hes are one of the best but that is what I think..

And it also helps to put a few plastic sand-filled easter eggs in the nest... it works with mine
