We have had chicks for about two months now and have some questions...

No. Here is a thread that tells how:

Got this off the BYC FAQ page. If that doesn't solve your problem, try a search in the BYC website section. (Don't ask me, I don't even own a camera.)

I would also think you could find a pic on here of a chicken hook, or maybe on a hatchery website, or Google it. But nets are easier. You can also herd them with a stick, which is all I've needed so far. Don't misunderstand, I don't hit them, just wave it near them, and they run away from it. My young ones go in the coop at dusk on their own; I turn a light on in there around 7 PM and they go to the light, then I just turn it off after I lock them up. My older ones gather near the coop door around dark but I still have to shoo them in! Lots of folks lure them in with a treat. Hopefully you will get them trained and they will go in on their own.

Have we missed anything?

I looked at our feed we are buying from Rural King and it says starter/grower on it. So is this still ok to feed until they start laying?

8. Sexing is harder. Hatcheries have highly trained people that do sexing and are paid thousands of dollars a day to do this but normal people have different ways.

Dang, I'm in the wrong line of work. I need to become a chicken sexer!

Anyone have an answer to post #13? I need to know asap. I assume it is ok but want to be sure.

Yes, starter/grower is fine until they start laying... then you need a layer food.
