If it's been zipping round the egg for that long I would go ahead and finish the zip for it.

Zipping should not take that long, anything over 60 - 90 minutes and it's in distress.

I'm afraid it didn't make it. I was shooting for a 24 hr wait period. I think it pipped in the wrong end. When it started to zip, I stopped worrying about it. I thought nature would take its course. When I picked it up, I noticed that the yolk sac had broken and had leaked out of the egg.
