"If anyone knows what that pretty hanging down flower is in pic #3 of this post, please let me know! "
that is a ladies slipper. very hard to grow and get to bloom. you have a really nice one. does it bloom each year for you? i used to find them wild in PA, but only every few years. they are hard to find. they love damp, shady areas.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. That was just what I needed!
I think the cold has been getting to me lately. I'm usually very cheerful but find I'm getting irritated a little easier these days. Always happens to me when I don't get enough sunshine. Reno is known for it's 300+ days of sunshine a year but you sure couldn't prove it by us these last few months.
The snow has finally slowed down for us but the cloudy days have been almost non-stop!
I think I'll be visiting this thread a lot for the next few weeks!

Wrong post, sorry I didn't specify, Shawn, it's post #27, third pic. Actually, we have a ton of ladyslippers all through our woods. That flower in the third pic is sort of papery, not like the pink bulbous flower on a ladyslipper. This is the one I mean. Yes, it's double columbine! Thanks so much. I love this flower:
Hey Cyn, do you guys have any snow? When I took DS to school this morning, the mountains had snow on some of them. We have a great view of the Blue ridge mountains and i always wondered which one you live on!
Beautiful! Simply beautiful! I am creating an Iris garden this year in Remembrance of my MIL who lost her battle with cancer on 11-3-09! I just loved the Iris Gardens in Oregon. I wish I could have bought some bulbs on my last trip! Maybe this year since I will be driving not flying!
Come on Spring!
