We lost a Roo

I am so sorry! We lost our favorite roo, Elvis, two days ago. It's SO sad. I am sure he had the best family a roo could have....

Thanks K.T. He's like one of those really close family members or friends you think can never die...until they're gone, that is. I'm sorry about your bird. When we had to give my guy his medication for his infection, I was very nervious abut O.D.ing him. Turns out, I stopped his meds too early, he got sicker again because the bacteria got used to the meds, and long story short, he wasn't getting any better. I was in the process of finding something that would work when he went. I still fear having to give one of my others any meds to this day...My guy was isolated for over a month.

Aww, I'm sorry you can't burry him. The ground was pretty frozen when we got our guy out there, too. We managed to get the shovel throught the ground after a while, but I'm very sorry. That must be horrible to still be grieving and having to deal with this. He knows you love him. I still find myself wandering idley to my guy's grave from time to time...

Sometimes I get disturbing flashbacks of when we had a new rooster who became more dominant over my dead one, Fuzzy, and would chase him off. I had this very random and very real flashback yesterday when I walked over to my wheel-barrow. I remembered when my mean rooster chased Fuzz off and he hid under the wheel-barrow. I had to go fetch him and I comforted him until he was done shaking. It's so wierd how these things happen. It's like they just come to you naturally.

Done rambling now.
