My DH went out to feed the birds and went into the duck coop and found our chocolate muscovay male dead. It has broke our hearts. We are trying to figure out what has happened. He was just fine the day before when I was in the coop and he was being Carlos. We lost two more eggs that the girls were sitting on. A few remains of the shell were outside the coop. Carlos did not have any injuries on him that we can tell and he was only about a 1.5 yrs old. We are putting out a trap on the backside of the coop just to see what we get. We have not told Kathyrn yet. We probaly will over the weekend when she will have time to digest it before she goes back to school. She really wears her heart on her sleeve for her birds. We take care of them during the week because her schoolwork comes first but on the weekend she helps out so she will notice Carlos gone.
We think a snake got Carlos because the eggs are all gone and nothing is in the trap.-
