I've got 6 Groninger bantam eggs ready to put under one of my broody hens. So excited!

I couldn't find a breed fan club thread on here so thought I'd make one.

Please post your pictures and experiences and what you love about the breed. I know they are fairly unusual, and quite similar to other European light breeds, but I've never kept them before. Maybe they are on your wish list?

I just think they are stunning! :love

Some details here for the curious https://www.poultryclub.org/breeds/chickens/rare-soft-feather-light/groninger/

Out of 6 eggs, 2 made it to hatching. 1 died after pipping so I've got this single little beauty!

It's sibling at the back is a polish silkie cross.

She is as brilliant a mum as my silkie, and that's about as close to chicken broody perfection there is!

Polish aren't supposed to be a broody breed, but she is a superstar and I love her.

I'm devastated. The little groninger died today. Not sure how but I think it was attacked by an adult member of the flock. I let them out with mama hen for an hour and next thing I know one of the chicks was dead and it's leg was nearly pulled off. 😭
