You could maybe make the map so that people have the option of doing it anonymously, or showing who they are (user name). That way everyone could participate even if they didn't want people to know where exactly they are.

Just a thought.

Anybody know how to use the Google Maps or Google Earth API? We could setup a form in Google Docs and have the data sync with Google maps. Maybe we could even use the current location system already part of member profiles.

I tried setting up a google map, but when I tried to add myself it geeked on me and I couldn't figure it out.

Actually, I do know of a few ways to do it manually, but that is SOOOO 2006!

I'd like to find a way to tie into their API and have the data always updated as peeps update their profiles.

Just to add to the complication. Wonder about a way to tell the active locals from the inactive locals on the map too.
