We now have guineas!

Thought I would brag a little. We got them from the feed store at about 3 inches tall. Kept them in the brooder with two of our chicks and a free mystery chick I was given. They hang out with the brooder mates and are really cool critters!

One question, one has white feathers on it's wings and is a little bigger and the other does not. Does this give any clue about gender?

you can tell the gender by the different calls they make

I'm pretty sure colouring does not define gender.

The guinea fowl forum sticky links here for the sounds that helps you tell the genders apart.

That guinea with the white feathers make me want to say pied. Pearl x white pied, I think.

You have a Pied, or Pearl Pied on the right but the other one???? He is a beauty but I dunno what color!

When you guineas get older they will start to call .. the females have a call kind of like this: "Buckwheat Buckwheat Buckwheat" and the males have a call like "ChiChiChiChi" once they start to call it's pretty easy.

You have a nice royal purple and a pied.

As stated above the call is the only way to tell gender.
