We saved a baby quail by assisting his hatch

I put a safety hole in each. I’m not sure if the membrane is open enough. I use a stick pin to Polk through but the flap appears to close back. The safety hole really tiny. I hope they get air. I understand they may not live but it’s worth a try.
I think that will be good. As long as the shell is broken it will get air. The membrane always flips back up, it's fine. Was there any movement in them?

Thanks. When I did the candling I had a hard time seeing. It’s all dark to me. When I made the safety it looked like dark color underneath... maybe feathers. Maybe I should try a different spot to do a safety hole.
If you do a very big hole or multiple holes, they will start to dry out.

I thought I saw a little but not sure. I’ll let them be for now and check back in an hour. Thanks so much for your help.😊

Thank you. I’m not really seeing any picking or movement in either egg. Maybe I should wait. Or maybe I should help. What is the rational behind helping them now?

They're super overdue, I think you'd better help them.

Nope. I suspected they had died. Those two did not make it. But we saved one. And have a total of three birds out of five.

So the others are both dead? Sorry. 3 of 5 is still a pretty good hatch rate though.
