We still thinkin barnvelder?

I will post the photo that I put up back when I originally asked about him. I am still new at this and I had resolved myself to the fact that if he was a barnvelder I was still gonna keep him around. But I was VERY hopeful he was welsummer because I want to try my hand at Olive Eggers! He came from Meyer hatchery btw out of their fry pan special. No fry pan for this boy! Thanks everyone!!

My barnie roosters were black at that age until they got their adult feathers. I can see where the confusion with the younger picture though.
I’d love to see a photo of you have one of the barnie cockerels you have :) I have a couple of “Easter Egger” pullets and my hope is getting first generation Olive Eggers by crossing them with this fella. Next spring will be exciting!:woot

Here they were at about 3-4 months when I rehomed them. And one younger about 3-4 weeks that looks similar to your rooster.

That’s very similar to how he was looking so I definitely see how it could be guessed as that. This ID stuff is confusing, but it’s so much fun!

Here's what your bad boy will look like when he's grown. Absolutely gorgeous colors. The black tail/wing/chest feathers actually have an iridescent green mixed in. Mine have been pretty good gentlemen... until it comes to sex. Then they're monsters.
