We won at the fair!

The generosity of the corporate sponsors always amazes me. I'm grateful for it though. I found cute sorta Ag/farm Thank You notes at Dollar Tree if you need some. Barns, sunflowers, etc.

I ordered the fast ones from Welp this week also. I'm giving them gamebird starter for the first 40lbs then going to the Purina Flock Raiser after that. The gamebird and Flock Raiser are the same price $10.50/bag, but the gamebird is only 40lbs and the Flock Raiser is 50lb bags. The gamebird however is whats available locally. The Flock Raiser will have to wait until I go to that town next weekend for other errands.

This batch is just for us, but I hope we have similar results.

Thanks. I am going to get the address on Monday and see what kind of cards I can find. If I don't find any we like I'd love to have one. Our fair makes the kids turn the thank you notes into the ag office when they pick up the sales checks. If they refuse to do so they are banned from the fair.

We just butchered 4 of the roos and live wt they were all a bit over 12lbs. Finished wt they were all between 8 1/2-9lbs. I had to part them because they wouldn't fit into my gallon size bags. We still have 6 roos and 6 hens to do and only one looks "small". If it wasn't for the fair I would have done them at 5 1/2- 6 weeks old. I had them on turkey and gamebird starter the entire time.

I need to get out there and see if they have any more. It was a pack of 8 or 10. I was thrilled to find them. Everything else it seems is just the plain white or baby/wedding/graduation related. I've also thought about blank inside greeting cards with a pic I like. Our fairs have started giving out a little paper strip with the name of the donor and the amount. I'd rather honestly they did it like yours. Then I wouldn't have to worry about tracking down addresses and remember to get them out.

I'm only planning to switch the feed because of the amount difference. 10lbs extra/bag is nothing to sneeze at with my feed bills already.

Welp called Wed. to confirm and I got them bright and early this AM. Man, are they loud! This was my first through the mail live order. They all seem to have come through it with flying colors. Not sure if I got 30, 31 or 32. (I had a helper with getting them into the brooder.) I'll get a head count when I move them to the tractor. Currently I'm thinking to do 1/3 at 6wks, 1/3 at 7 wks and 1/3 at 8 wks, just in time for Thanksgiving. I could definitely see getting a few orders a year from Welp. So far, I'm quite pleased with the experience.

They started doing it that way because people were blowing it off and the buyers were getting miffed. This way they can make sure all the buyers get the thank you note they deserve.
