Is there still language about "permitting"? Not sure if the town wants to manage flocks with an annual license/permit system. Not sure if I would want to pay a license or permit fee to keep a few hens.

I don't recall what the exact wording is, but there is not going to be an annual license/permit system. Instead, they are going to do the same thing our town does with the burn permits. You fill out a one-time "permit" and sign something saying that you have been given a copy of the rules and that you will abide by them or suffer the consequences.

No fee for the permit, but if you get chickens and have not done the little paperwork there is, you can be fined for that. The city manager figured out that it would cost at least $100 per permit to recoup the city's costs if a permit system was put in place.

Wow, what a ride! I commend you for taking on the issue and seeing it through, that's really incredible.

(I Googled Yreka, it must be a beautiful place judging by where it's located!)

Again, congrats.

Wow, that is fantastic news! It has been quite a journey for your town and I'm so happy for you. It is great that you took us through the process. I appreciate this because I am interested in eventually tweaking our city's ordinances from allowing 3 hens to 6 hens in the future. Thanks again and Congrats!
