Hello . Is it unusual for a bird hatched in the spring of 2019 to not produce a single egg as of yet? Do occasionally you find one that can’t lay for some physical problem or maybe she is just a late bloomer. Her two flock mates have been laying steadily. She is a healthy hen with a good feed and afternoons free range in my backyard. Thanks for any help. She has me stumped. Hahaha.

Do you realize that chicken keepers from all over Planet Earth post on this site? Therefore, if you live in Australia, New Zealand or Tahiti, it is spring now, and your hen would definitely be a concern for not laying yet.

On the other hand, if you live in Canada or the US or Britain, it would not be unusual for your hen not to be laying since her race with her egg hormones have likely lost out to the short days we are getting now. If where you live there are less than twelve hours of daylight, you probably won't see eggs from your hen until after January when the lengthening days may be enough to trigger her hormones.

:welcome

I have a Brown Leghorn that hasn’t laced yet at 36 weeks. It wouldn’t surprise me if she doesn’t u til days get longer now. I just call her my freeloader. :love Good luck.

IKR, they're slow grower, or perhaps we compare them with the controversonal obese giant deformed genetically modified antibiotic abuse broiler chicken too much.

Thank You. I live in New Mexico in the US .
What breeds of birds of birds do you have?
How old are they all, in weeks?
Some just start up later.

Welcome to BYC! @Itsmepat
Here's how to add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!
