My muscovy hen hatched 15 babies two days ago. She took them down to the lake for the first time today. One was weak...it would follow a few steps and then sit down. Then start walking the other way. So, I brought it in and put it under a light. It is definately weak. Do any of you have any suggestions on what to do for a weak baby...I'm hoping I can get it stronger and then put it back with its Mom.

TIA...Ellen

Does it eat an drink efficiently on its own? If it is able to drink and eat then I would put some electrolytes in it's water just to help perk it up. If it isn't drinking and eating by itself and you're willing to do what it takes to keep it alive I would force feed. Be careful about this as I've done it a few times and it can be difficult. If you have any questions about force feeding don't be afraid to email me. I'd be glad to help. Make sure to keep the correct temperature and avoid stress.
Hope this helps QP
