We received some chicks in the mail last week and lost two in the first 3 days(out of 23 total) but just marked that up to the cost of ordering that many chicks - you're probably bound to lose a couple.
We have one that has been a favorite from the beginning. She is the runt for sure. She was the smallest when they came and I don't think she's growing as fast as the others either.
She seemed to be doing fine though, has been eating and drinking (and her favorite spot to fall asleep is right in the middle of their food).
However, today, we noticed she is very weak. She can hardly stand and when she does her head hangs down and a little to the side. We also noticed a limp. There are no noticeable scratches or injuries but it does look like maybe that foot is a little swollen and possibly a little less developed though it's hard to tell.
She also doesn't seem to be eating or drinking much.
I saw people on here recommending to feed them boiled eggs and sugar water, so I actually cracked open an egg(From some of our other chickens) in a mixing bowl, poured some sugar into that, mixed it together well, and poured that into some boiling water. Once cooked we fed her some of this sugar egg. She took a couple of tiny bites of it, but hardly seemed strong enough for that. We also mixed some sugar in her water but she doesn't seem too interested in that right now.
We don't have anywhere nearby to get store bought electrolytes.
What can we do?
