I got 8 chicks 4 days ago (2 Bo, 2ee, 3 silkies and 1 cuckoo maran) and 1 of the silkies isn't doing well. They're all a week and a half old and they're all fine except for her. She spends almost all her time curled up beside the feeder and peeps when we touch her. She doesn't have pasty butt, curled toes and I'm pretty sure not splayed leg. She substantially smaller than the other silkies too. They're on medicated feed and normal water. Please give any advice you have, I want her to be healthy!

Hi,

Maybe put vitamin supplements / electrolytes in their water and hope that perks her up a little. If she is eating and drinking (even if its only a little) then she may pull through.

If she is not eating or drinking then its another story. It may sound harsh, but if this is the case, i personally would cull the chick as its better it has a quick and painless death rather than dying of dehydration. Additionally, but not necessarily, the chick could be likely to be a weak flock member even if it does survive, and would be likely to be attacked mercilessly by other flock members.

Please note, this is simply what i would do. This is by no means the only option available to you and i hope that other members may offer alternative suggestions.

I wish you luck
