One of my Silkie hens went broody, so I gave her some eggs to sit on. She hatched out 3 chicks and seems to have left the nest. But I noticed when I got home from work today there was a fourth chick partially out of its shell.
She has moved on and doesn’t seem to care about chick #4. It wasn’t doing well at all, so I have it in the house in a towel and on a hot water bottle. I have a couple 3 day old chicks in a brooder I’m hoping to put this chick with if it gets a bit stronger... fingers crossed.
I’ve tried giving it some sugar water and egg yolk, and it seems to have perked up quite a bit. Making lots more peeping noises now and will open its eyes when I pick it up.
Is there anything else I can/should be doing for it?
