does an interrupted incubation cause weak chicks? mum has been kicked out of nest every day when others want to lay (and sit,) they are wild and have decided to sit on eggs in a box on the front stoop. usually we pick up eggs daily but were away for a few days and came back to broody hen on 5 eggs, (not all hers they all 7 jump in the same box) I marked the eggs with a dot and removed the new ones, put out 2 more boxs. the chicks, only 3, hatched 2 days ago and have been weak and died? not sure why? started out alert but then closed eyes, not standing, chirping but not eating? mums seem healthy. I dont want sick chickens, I mix DE in with the feed, and a spot of ACV in the water source, for general use. I cant keep the wild chickens out from the property, (prefer they dont go under the house ) there is a great problem with feral chicken in the area, so I want the ones at my house to be healthy. love my inherited RIR she lays great egg, (got her after an attack? or car hit? as a pullet took Many months but she's almost 3yo ,healed and produces eggs no problems yeah!)
