I have 2 ducks - a pekin and a khaki Campbell. My pekin duck has had problems with her legs/hips since a few weeks old, and struggles to do what my other duck does. I've put ramps and steps in their pool as she can't get in and out without this. When she tries to run her leg gives way so she can't keep up with Arthur, my KC. I tried different things to help with this, vitamins and powders in with her food etc but none seemed to make a noticeable difference, until my friend recently introduced me to aloe Vera. I give them the gel drink each morning and HURRAAHH she can run without falling over!! She can just about get herself in to and out of her pool (although I have kept the ramp there for convenience for them). Just wondered if anyone else has tried this with their ducks and highly recommend it to anybody who may be having any trouble with their pets health!

This is interesting. What does Aloe Vera do that would help with this kind of leg problem? I really have no idea and haven't heard of giving it to ducks. I have a special needs duck who has had a problem with one of her legs giving way on her since hatching (she just turned one year old). She is on Metacam for any pain she might have, but all of the other treatments (wrapping, putting on a boot, etc), glucosamine, and vitamins haven't helped. I am intrigued by this. Can you tell me more?

I'd never heard of it either until recently! I give her the gel drink thats used for joint function and maintenance, and for mobility. Because its all pure and natural it can be given to any pet as well as people - I drink it myself and know people who give it to their dogs and horses! Its got glucosamine in it and is the only thing I've tried that actually seems to work! She can now run along behind Arthur without falling over which she never used to do, she would start running, fall and just waddle slowly along at her own pace - it was really sad to watch and killed me! She's been on it for a few weeks now and I've noticed a difference already. They say it can take a couple of months to really notice the difference but she doesn't need me to scoop her in to her pool (she likes to be independent and not use the ramp to get in to her pool most of the time!) she can get in herself now. Some things still take her a little while and she can't jump up in to the flowerbeds, but what she can do on her own has improved and it's so lovely to see! I feel a lot better about it - she used to stand at the edge of the pool quacking for me to help her in!

do you give the same dosage as a human would take? I also have pekin duck that has problems with his hips. I would love to try this for him.

Thanks so much.

No - I drink a little more than i give them, and I water theirs down as they love the taste of it! Feel free to private message me if you want to know where I get it from/how much I give them etc - when I order it, it comes with a cup to measure it out
