weak newly hatched chick.

So my chick just hatched on day 26 and the membrane was stuck to its vent still. Its under a broodie, and she pecked the shell and membrane off. It looks to have bleed some but the bleeding has stopped. Should i leave him under her or put him in the broodie for a few days till he gets better then give him back?

i'd put a dab of antiseptic on it and leave the little one with mum. It should be fine once its dried out. I'd only remove it if its bleeding a lot or it hasnt dried to a scab after 12 or so hours.

When you offer her food, I would make it chick feed mush (add water) to make digestion easier

oh how sad sometimes what seems like a small amount of blood to us is just too much for a tiny chick, there's nothing you could have done though.
