I have a 7-9 wk old bb red pullet. Yesterday she was removed from the rest of the flock. Was getting trampled and couldn't stand.
Put in a carrier with food and electrolyte water. Would not drink on her own, so we used a syringe to give her 1cc at a time perhaps 6 times during the day. She would eat if you put food on the ground in front of her but not out of the small feeder offered.
This am (7)she was up on her feet to eat at the bowl for 10 minutes on her own. Still didn't show interest in drinking so we syringed her. At least she could stand, but if she tried to prune she fell over)
Just found her on her side shaking(this was better this morning but now worse) with leg stuck out to side.
Held her shortly and placed her inside cage again-she was stable but weak on her feet. She ate some also.
Would antibiotics be suggested? What else are we missing? How much warmth does she need? How much water do they normally intake? I thought she made a great turn around but then.......
