I have a 7-9 wk old bb red pullet. Yesterday she was removed from the rest of the flock. Was getting trampled and couldn't stand.

Put in a carrier with food and electrolyte water. Would not drink on her own, so we used a syringe to give her 1cc at a time perhaps 6 times during the day. She would eat if you put food on the ground in front of her but not out of the small feeder offered.

This am (7)she was up on her feet to eat at the bowl for 10 minutes on her own. Still didn't show interest in drinking so we syringed her. At least she could stand, but if she tried to prune she fell over)

Just found her on her side shaking(this was better this morning but now worse) with leg stuck out to side.

Held her shortly and placed her inside cage again-she was stable but weak on her feet. She ate some also.

Would antibiotics be suggested? What else are we missing? How much warmth does she need? How much water do they normally intake? I thought she made a great turn around but then.......

As a fast growing meat turkey she may have had a heart attack or stroke.. It is called flip... What protien are you feeding ?? Are you restricting feed? Do you have any others?? If so are the breathing heavy or looking strained???

Not a turkey-maybe I misrepresented. It is a BB Red game bird bantam, approx 7 weeks old.

Since last post we have given Duramycin-10 mixed in water(3cc 2x day), sugar water, and electrolytes. She now has labored breathing through her mouth. It's hard to watch. She has moved to the feeder and eaten her grower starter food and also when put in front of her. I also tried an egg yolk watered down slightly. I'm concerned of getting that in her nostril area and making things worse.

I don't know what else to do-water, electrolytes, antibiotics, food, warmth... I suppose I could go to sub Q fluids or a shot of antibiotics. I'm not close with any other bird raisers and don't really want to go the vet route.

Is it possible to do a cream of wheat mixture for some food substance? At this point I don't think it could hurt. I don't like the symptoms I see. Continued weakness, clear runny nose and labored breathing.

Hate this.

Thanks for your response
