I’m raising a few babies at the moment, they are about 2-3 weeks old. I was not home yesterday or this morning but i got someone to take care of them. They have kids, and told them they could play with the chicks as long as they were being very careful. They know to wash their hands before and after handling the chicks, and how fragile the babies are.
I came back about an hour ago and went to check on them and one of them is in very bad shape. Very weak, EXTREMELY thin (which i found quite odd as all the others were fine, and they all had access to food and water). I separated her from the rest, and I tried to make her eat and drink, she drinks pretty well but only eats if i place a bit of food in her beak (not in the throat, at the tip of the beak). She can stand but won’t walk, but the people taking care of her told me she was very active yesterday and running around, but this morning was already quite weak. and i checked her poop which looked pretty normal. I don’t know what to do!! Should i let her rest or keep her awake? Should i feed her that way anymore? Keep her warm or could it be some kind of overheating? Could it be because of the kids?
