Weak yolks?

I have what would be considered I'm sure, a minor yolk problem. Some of the eggs my hens lay seem to have weak yolks. For no matter how gently I crack them open they spread out as if they had been poked.
Is this normal? Or perhaps caused by some deficiency in their diet?

Could be diet (most likely) or a disease issue. Try giving them a multi-vitamin, and see if it makes a difference. Do they free range? What is the temperature there? I find that when the weather is hotter, egg quality goes down.

I have the same problem.
I have some silkies, and then some big chickens (Normal size)
They "big" chickens lay eggs, and those eggs lay eggs, whose yolks break super easy.

The silkies eggs don't break. As a matter of fact I slapped one in the skillet on accident when it slid off as I was flipping, and did not break.

I think it may also have something to do with the chickens. They have all been living together for 4 months.

Thanks. They do free-range, and have very good feed. However we have had a record breaking summer with over seventy 100 degree days. Maybe that does have something to do with it.
