Yes, we are giving chick starter. Here are some pics of the chick. He seems very healthy and forages excellantly. He's 15-16 days old and molting. We believe him to be a red junglefowl roo.

Aww, he's cute!

I agree with the others, just feed him the chick starter and don't offer cat food. My adult chickens actually like to eat my cats' food, maybe it's the taste. :p

if he is a rooster just remember to feed him flock raiser or all flock or chick grower when he grows up, because layer pellets have too much calcium for roosters.

Ok, thanks. That's a load off of my mind.

Just adorable!

I agree with @RoostersAreAwesome if he is a he - flock raiser is the way to go once he gets older. Chick starter is fine too.

You may decide to get him some company - you can feed an all flock/flock raiser to them all of their life - this is what I do, no having to buy separate feed - chicks and adults eat the same thing. Just provide oyster shell for any actively laying hens.

Thanks for the input on the feed, but getting him company will be tough. We don't want any chickens and we only have him because we rescued him. Another chick in the house would be an impossible sell. I hope "he" is a pullet, a darker chest-typical of red jungle fowl roos. What's the sad/crying emoji commands?

I can't say on gender - I'm terrible with breed/gender i.d.

Here's hoping he is a pullet:)
