Weasel or rat?

SOmething got my chicks last night. One alive,one headless,one bite on back of head, on dead no marks, 4 gone. Found small dug out spot under wall. Weasel or rat?

How old were the chicks....with 4 gone really doesn't sound like a rat to me.
Weasel maybe even a fox?

2 weeks old. Couldnt have been a fox too small for fox to enter.

2 week old chicks, probably a rat. For the first 2 wks of life my chicks start off in a wire brooder. The wire is 1/2"x1". No rats or snakes are getting to my babies. Here is a picture of my brooder. The chicks were 3 days old here.

sounds like the work of a rat. It could be a mother rat as to why four are missing they will take food back to a nest. a weesel would have a bigger hole and none would have been left. Rats are really bad about taking the heads off and bites to the back of the neck
