We almost have the coop finished. Well we have to build the nesting boxes and window coverings, but we got it closed in enough for the summer months and moved the chickens in last weekend. Once we get the run finished we will jump back on the coop. I’ll post pictures in a few days to get opinions on ventilation. For now, I need suggestions for monitoring the temp and humidity. Ive been wanting to get a weather station for a while, so I think I’ll get one that has extra sensors for the coop. Does anyone have a brand/unit you recommend? Or, a brand you DON’T recommend?

I have a LA CROSSE unit with two remote sensors that I use to monitor the temperature and humidity in the greenhouse and the outdoors. It also monitors the room temperature, humidity and barometric pressure. I manually clear the highs and lows at midnight daily.

I have an Acurite that I use the remote sensor to measure the temperature and humidity inside my cabinet hatcher and an Ambient that I use the remote sensor to measure the temperature and humidity in my cabinet incubator.

I like the LA CROSSE the best. Unfortunately the model WS-8035U is no longer made. I don't know how I would like the newer models.

Thanks for sharing! Is there a particular feature(s) that you like best about the LA CROSSE that the Acurite doesn't have? Or, is it more accurate and/or less glitchy than the Acurite? I've been looking at Acurite, but that is mostly because the local stores carry them.

I prefer the LA CROSSE because it is a nice big easily read unit that I understand how to use. It is 8" wide by 10" tall with the display being 3 1/2" x 6 1/2". The controls are right at the base of the unit and easy to understand.

I never bothered to learn the Acurite because I am not concerned about the highs and lows for it.

Good luck with whatever you choose.
