Weathervanes

Since I'm new here, I'll confess that I have a BFA in metalsmithing... I can do this, although I have NO equipment to work with... so I'll do what makes it fun, improvise!

Here is a gate I made about 8 yrs ago. I took a studio class just to use the facility, it was nice to go back after all that time to work and not have to worry about a grade or anything..

Wow, that's gorgeous! Now I can't wait to see the weathervane. I keep looking for a metalsmithing class here. I need it on a much smaller scale for jewelry.
 
I am in awe of real craftsmen!

We have a fellow who works the County Fair here every year who makes some amazing wrought iron weathervanes; but the prices he commands are steep, and I'm sure are worth the considerable craftsmanship that goes into something like that. I've always been curious about what it would be like to have a forge...

Please keep us posted on your project! I love that design and I will be very curious to see how it turns out.
