The best bet is truly to look at Eggbid.com - you can buy both silkie hatching eggs and started birds there. They give feedback, just like on Ebay, so you can get a sense of the quality of the seller's birds/eggs. Shipping is also explained. They have both "started" birds and "adullts". Lots of silkies are advertised there regularly by some of the top breeders. You can also look at individual web sites for well-known breeders. I had a pair of splash pullets shipped to me by HatTrick in the late summer, and they're beautiful and thriving. I also had a blue & a black hen (and several buff/partridge straight run chicks) shipped to me by Bobbi Porto in Florida - Google both names & you'll easily find their web sites. I had excellent experiences with both breeders, and shipping was very reasonable given the quality of what arrived.

Bobbi Porto has shipped me Started Chicks, Grown birds and eggs. It is not cheap so be prepared to pay anywhere from 60 to 150 dollars for what ever you get from a breeder
