We ship started and adult birds and most breeders do, where hatcheries focus more on chicks. As mentioned there are special shipping boxes that must be used and they are shipped USPS Express, which is very expensive.

Alot of times its worth the time and money......particularly if you dont want to take the time to raise a chick or having problems with egg incubating....

Done shipping a few times and had no problems with it except for the post office which they will give you a hard time shipping birds out of your town but no problems getting them in! Go figure!

Shipping birds (little ones and adults alike) is done through the US Postal Service. You need to have a US Postal Service Approved box which runs you about $10.00. They they send them by Express mail which will cost you anywhere between $25.00- $100.00 depending on the weight of what you are shipping. I have personally had great success with shipping lives all over the continential US. Hope that helps! JEN

I tried looking at the http://www.americansilkiebantamclub.org/ and thought it really stunk
There is no where I could find to see breeders listed or for sale area either. I think you may have to be a member or something...?
Really poorly done, I thought, a real turn off for people looking for breeders anyway.

Yeah, I had a hard time with that site too, especially for WA state. I had to contact a director there and it led me on a few phone calls to where I found one person who says there are few in the state she knows of.

On a good note though, Alex got a new girl!

Exactly, I had to too, you have to join so you can get a bi-monthly newsletter or something. Seemed kind of odd way to get members? or caught me as almost strange for a club? or a way for a club to just get money or something.
