Wedding Plans..help with veil?

I doubt anyone could be as allergic to them as I am! lol! It's a running joke in the family. But, I can make sure that those that are allergic to feathers are seated the furthest from the aisle.

I think that would be beautiful and different from the cookie cutter veils. I'm like you, I wanted something a little different. I wanted fresh flowers and a veil. I did find someone who could do it and they wanted $3000.00! I'm sure it would have been just beautiful, but I wasn't about to ask Mom and Dad to buy it. I decided I could make one myself.....Ahhhh, the hubris of youth. I bought a head band and covered it with fabric, then I sewed 3 hair combs under it so I could be sure it would stay in place. Then I sewed the veil material I bought at the fabric store. The morning of the wedding I hot glued the flowers on and put it in the fridge until I needed it. I loved it. I wore a very old family dress and my hand made veil. We were married in my parents garden by the same Minister who had married both my in laws and my parents. He also Baptized our children. It was a simple affair and we loved it. My father is a Doctor and I could have had any wedding I wanted, but 17 years later I can't think of one thing I would have changed.
Good luck on your special day! Keep us up to date on your plans.
talk to you later,

Someone on here posted photos of her vail that she made with her chicken's feathers...........have to find the thread, it was GORGEOUS
I thought so, anyway

What is this "headband" thing? Do you mean something that covers the top part but doesn't wrap around? I think that's what I'm after. I don't like the "clip" idea.

willkat, your style is what I'm after. I also LOVE your dress! Gorgeous!!!!

It was a headband. The kind that comes down behind your ears and holds your hair back, but I cut it to the size I wanted using a jig saw. I only wanted it to be on top and down the sides a little. I bought 3 clear combs and cut the head band to the size of the combs.
here's a picture of me working on it.....the pic is awful!, but I thought you could see what I was talking about.

maybe you could hot glue the feathers on. Joann fabrics has quite a bit of an assortment of bridal bands and accessories. The bigger the store the more you'll find.

I made a couple with feathers years ago. One was white and one had peacock feathers. LOL

They turned out beautiful though and I wish I still had pictures of them.

The white one from what I remember had streamers with feathers as well as the top being mostlt feathers. I used freshwater pearls and just don't remember right now what else I did to it. It was for a Christmas Eve wedding and everyone loved it. I got more orders than I had time to do after that.

hmmmmmm been trying to come up with some money making ideas and had forgotten about all those veils!

I'm glad you posted this!

And Congratulations!
