Is there a product you have used before? Did it work well?
If so, look for exactly what chemicals are in it, and you can research whether each of those is safe for chickens.

If you have not used anything before, then think about exactly what you need it to do.

Does it need to kill weeds? Any particular kind of weeds?

Does your lawn need fertilizer? If the chickens have been ranging on it, they have also been pooping on it. Chicken droppings are one kind of fertilizer--are they enough?

look also to what your lawn is made of - some weed and feeds are NOT for some grasses.

And if you are more interested in the feed than the weed, consider taking some soil samples to your local ag extension office and finding what your soil is short in. A healthy yard of dense grasses is one of the best anti-weed measures you can have.

Keep the birds off of the treated lawn until the treatment is well watered in,
especially if you are using a pelleted treatment.
