Weed and grass killer

Is it safe to use Round-Up around the fence line of my pen/run. I just installed a electric fence, and won't a easy way to control grass.

I'm of the belief that it is NEVER safe to use Round-up, especially not near anything you would want to eat of that would eat something you would later eat.

Round-up is made from chemicals that, despite the claim on the package, never break down and even trace amounts cause severe neurological damage.
