What kind of weed killer is safe to use with ducks and chickens?

I am not one to freak out about properly applied pesticides. I am a state licensed chemical applicator. Me and my staff study these things and undergo regular training. There is much hysteria about pesticides and chemicals out there. Most is unfounded or based on shaky facts at best. I use Roundup as well as various selective herbicides around our chickens and ducks without issue. I don't spray it in their pen but that is mainly because weed control in there is unnecessary. Follow the label instructions and use as needed. These products exist to make our lives easier. If you don't like weeds you will have to apply some sort of pesticide to achieve decent results.

Vinegar mixed with dish soap can be used as a vegetation killer, non-selective. Dehydrates the leaves works best in warm dry sunny weather.

Thank you we only have 2 chickens and 2 ducks that are my sons beloved pets. They have a pen they stay in at night but set out during the day to roam the property. We also have gotten an unusual amount of rain this year which is why the weeds have gotten out of control. So my question to you is after you spray do you allow your chickens to roam where you have sprayed?

I have a friend who tried the vinegar and dish soap thing and it didn't work

Sometimes I find I have to spray twice(morning then afternoon) and wet weather will make it ineffective. There are some natural alternatives available retail but the cost is high. Have used the EcoSmart weed and grass killer and it does work but I think half a gallon is $10. I can spray something with vinegar several times and still be a lot cheaper than that once.
