weeder ducks

Has anyone raised, or used weeder ducks for gardens? strawberry's? pro's n cons? any info would be greatly appreciated.

My ducks would weed the garden, But after eating all the strawberries!

Anything duck height here is eaten. I watched my ducks strip the bark of a thin maple tree the other day

Vinyards use them but i think it works because the fruit and leaves are above duck reach

I have 40 chickens, but was looking into getting weeder ducks for the garden.

From what I learned, ducks will at least try to eat anything. When little ducklings are "kissing" you, that's not kissing. They're tasting you to see if you're edible.

If ducks ever somehow grew teeth, we'd be doomed as species because they'd be flying piranha.

Let’s see between my chickens and ducks and can’t forget the geese my chickens are the tillers and my ducks an geese are the tasters . The do use Runners In vineyards some great you tube videos about that.

I think runners are used for pest control. Typically people use weeder geese. I did read about someone who trained their ducks to not eat strawberries by placing red rocks in the bed in the spring. The idea is they stop trying to eat them by the time you have real strawberries.

True I’ve only heard of weeded geese. My 2 don’t fit in that category either to spoiled rotten.
