Weeds, WEEDS, and more weeds!!!! PICS INCLUDED

is it related to purslane or also called that?

No they are two similar looking, but different plants. The knotweed has dull, dark green leaves and grows in compacted soils and driveways. Purslane has thick, glossy leaves and tends to pop up in disturbed soils.

This thread is a year old, but I was thinking of this conversation today as I was out working in the yard. I came across some huge dandelion and curly dock plants. The chickens love the curly dock and eat them down to a nub in the pasture. I happened to dig one out while I was digging up some bull thistle and they have huge yellow taproots, like a giant yellow carrot.

Anyone know if foxtails are okay while they're still green? Our entire yard is basically made up of them. I saw them listed on that site that was posted, but what it said wasn't real clear:

If fungus is the concern wouldn't that be true for any plant?

Still finding more weeds that we're trying to figure out if they are edible. Mac you were invaluable last time!! Hope you'll be able to weigh in :)

Need some help on identifying more edible weeds. Mac are you around?

#1 is very tall and scraggly looking. Probably 3-4 feet and the shoots at the bottom come out 2-3 feet. Haven't seen any flowers yet.

#2 is about 1.5 - 2 feet tall

#3 is 4 feet and taller! and I have a TON of it!

#4 is a foot or so and had TONS of little thin pod looking things on it... I'll see if I can get better pics tomorrow.

Thanks guys!!
