Well it's been a long week at the county fair. We entered (well my daughter) trio of silkies, trio of americanas, trio of standard polish, a frizzle polish hen. She won first place with the silkies, standard polish and americanas and 2nd on the frizzle. Of course there were no polish or silkies at the fair. The bird that won Grand Championship was a black Sumantra rooster. My black with white crest rooster could have given the bird a run for it's money if his head feathers had not been plucked out.
Our polish and silkies were the talk of the people when they walked out of the bird barn most people had never seen them before.
Most of the birds were from the 4-H poultry chain. They were white leghorns and Cinnamin Queens which were really pretty birds. I was going to buy some at the auction today but didn't get up in time for it.
This was our first year to participate in the fair and we will definitely be back next year with even more different types of chickens.
