Okay, so, I got salmon faverolles from Cackle the 10th and they came in pretty rough shape. Some were flipped on their back and all of them were cold, but they all pulled through and are currently fine ( no losses ). However, I noticed one of the chicks throws her head back when she drinks and it looks like she’s having a seizure. I don’t know when this started but I never noticed it when they first came or a few days after and she’s the only one doing it. I’ll post the video of it when it’s done loading, I was just wanting to get this thread started.

Has anyone had this happen before? Causes? Is there anything I can do for her?

Hmmm. I haven’t seen anything like this... whenever my chicks drink they tilt their head back, but they don’t throw it like yours... I hope someone more experienced can help you, I’m sorry that I can’t.

This is the first time I’ve seen it. I know the chicks had a rough start from shipping, but this...I don’t know. Could it just be an eccentricity of hers or could it be wry neck??

It could be something like Wry Neck. Poultry Nutri-Drench if you have it would be good. I would give her 2-3 drops twice a day.
If possible, get some Vitamin E gels and human B-Complex. Give her 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex. A chick that tiny, I think I would put the E and B Complex in a tiny bit of water - dissolve it all and syringe drops into her throughout the day to get it into her.

I don’t have nutri-drench on hand right now, but I do have durvet’s high level vitamin b complex. would that be okay or is it too much?

durvet’s high level vitamin b complex
You could probably give her 1 drop of that a day, but you still want to give Vitamin E.
Poultry Nutri-Drench has E and B1 which is what you are after, but B-Complex is really what I would give if possible.
