What is the best way to fix this? CAn I soak him/her? Thanks.
No, don't soak the entire chick. A wet chick is a chilled chick which is a dead chick. Just take a warm, wet washcloth and gently rub over the crusted feces until them come loose. It might take a while. After wards, be sure to dry the chick. I would pat the bum and fluff that got wet as dry as I could, then wrap in a towel and cuddle until the chick was totally dry. Some people use a blow dryer on low to dry the fluff.
A bit of olive oil applied with a q-tip to the chick's bum can help keep the poo from adhering. Not always successful, but it can help.
Same problem w/ my chick. I used a little vaseline, hope that isn't going to create a problem.
I think reapplying the oil a couple times a day would be helpful. I'm swiching to the oil...
