week old chick ?

I have 13 week old chicks. The question I have is I have one chick where the umbilical attaches it has not healed up. It had the dried cord but DH clean the chicks' butt thinking it was pasty butt and now there is a hole with yellow and red stuff coming out.. What is the best way to handle this chick to make sure it heals up and not get infected?

It's very odd that it didn't heal after the cord dried up. To have more people look and give aid/opinions change your title to Chicks navel didn't heal.

Clean it with iodine a few times a day and good luck.
