So I read on here somewhere you can give your chicks leaves to play with... do they eat them? Will it hurt them.... can I put some in with them, I dont have any grit, dont know if that matters or not.

My bo had her chick out and about in the run at 1 week old in 30 degree temps. if she picks up something she shouldn't have momma takes it right away from her.

I put leaves in with mine and they did not eat them, just played with them. So I guess it depends on the chi cks.

If they are dried leaves that have been lying around they will probably have little bugs on them. I wait until they are about 3 weeks or so and will eat the bugs before they crawl off into the brooder somewhere. If they are green--I would worry about them eating too many greens and getting runs, wait until they are older.
