I have 2 welsummer pullets, red production and 1 plymouth rock, how well will they deal with stress and one week. The reason i'm asking is i was changing out litter and they were talking and moving around a bit, i'm sure they did not like it but i'm more concerned with them being stressed? Any answers would be appreciated. I'm new at this backyard chicken raising!!

It's pretty hard to measure stress, but I'd be more worried if they weren't moving around and cheeping.

Probably the best advice to avoid stress is, don't grab or chase them. Instead, lay your hand in there (with or without food) and let them explore it. That and don't get them too hot -- watch where they move, and reduce heat if they are not freely running around all over the brooder.

Thanks for the information, no need to worry because they are moving around and churping.
