In the last four days I have lost 3 chicks they are 10 days old. I now have 23 left and some still have runny poop. Yesterday I purchased an Antibiotic for chickens that I add to the water I cover the brooder once a day with clean paper towel, and today I placed the chicks in a box and cleaned everything, put down news paper and covered that with paper towel. The brooder is well ventilated, and is kept between 90 to 80 One chick is showing the same signs the others did before they died, I am hoping the medicine makes a difference. Is there anything else I could do?
Thanks

Treat with Corid or Sulmet, the antibiotic you're using might not be the right one.

I'm not sure what is going on here, unless it's just normal losses; some are just not meant to make it. Runny poop isn't unusual in young chicks and it also happens because of hot weather and drinking a lot. If they are indoors and have not been exposed to the soil, cocci would be odd because it is a protozoa that lives in the soil. An antibiotic will not work on cocci, and Sulmet would be rough on them. If you really think it is cocci, Corid won't hurt them. I wouldn't let the brooder get over 90 at all and it may need to be a little lower. Actually, many antibiotics cause diarrhea.
