Can anyone help with a one week old Salmon Faverolles who's eye seems blood shot and "weepy". The white part of the eye is really pink. The other eye is o.k. She is with 8 other chicks the same age (none exhibiting symptoms). They have pine bedding, eating Purina start and grow and drinking tap water. I just noticed it this morning. It seems like it might be itchy as she keeps rubbing it on her wing which leaves the downy feathers all stiff after they dry.

I am wondering if she has something stuck in her eye (bit of shavings or something) but it is leaving her wing feathers crusty? Maybe she got pecked in the eye? She must be rubbing alot. Can you flush it with some saline or water?

I have her "quarantined" and will try and get some antibiotic eye ointment for her today. I think she must have irritated it somehow and now has an infection, though not puss-y as of yet. Thanks for the help.

Found some Vetropolycin one of the dogs had for an eye infection, same ingredients that someone mentioned Neo Poly Bac had so I am going to try that. She is not liking being without her flock!!!

UPDATE:

I treated this chick with Vetropolycin for ten days and kept it quarantined. The chick did great and can't even tell which one it is now!! PHEW! Thanks for all the help
