Please forgive my ignorance but I have never hatched turkey poults before this year. I have 3 week old poults in the brooder and their wings are growing out funny, kind of like an angel wing maybe? I've only seen a duck like that once so maybe I'm not remembering correctly. Do turkeys just grow out like that or do I have a problem?

Some turkeys have the long feathering gene. What I do is clip the wings to take some of the weight off of them. They seem to grow out nice then.

I forgot to mention in the first post that they are Bourbon Reds. Thanks so much Miss Turkey!

You DO NOT have a problem. They will grow out just fine. I also have Bourbon Reds. The wings do look kinda fuuny but no need to worry. Just sit back and relax and watch them grow.

Mine do it too. A lot of people feel the need to treat this because they don't look like chickens. After they do something, the wings turn out alright and the people assume it was becasue of their treatment, and so continue do do things like trim off the weight or hold the wings close with paperclips or tape. Fortunately, if you do nothing, you will get the same result.
