Weekly Growth Progress of My Chickens

Also, in other news, my three babies have been introduced into the flock with the older chicks and everyone is doing fine so far. A little pecking, a little chasing, but nothing unexpected and no injuries(except for the 9 week olds rubbing their face into the chicken wire and scratching their combs because they were trying to escape and were scared.... they aren't doing that anymore)

Been a lonnng time since I've posted. Here are my girls now.
I'm actually down from 8 to four.
Last year we lost our Silver Laced Wyandotte Lacey. I had gone to shut them in for the night and get eggs when I found her dead, lying on her back in the coop under the roost. I don't know what happened but it was very sad </3

The feather picking and bullying never ceased either, so we chose 3 of our remaining 7 hens to rehome, and that was only in the last couple months. As soon as the three were rehomed(to a home with two hens and a roo, so they are egg hens, not meat hens for now at least!) it was like a big sigh of relief from the remaining four. We kept my favourite one, Kenna the Cucukoo maran, Freddie the RIR, Anna the Buff Orpington, and Alice the Ancona. They are thriving now and very happy to be just the four of them :)

Thank you so much for posting this! It's amazing seeing different growth points of each one! I love that you had a variety of breeds! Right now I currently have an Australorp, Silver-laced Wyandotte and Golden-laced Wyandotte they are all 5 weeks old. It was nice to see picturesof how big they're going to be week by week!

This post is amazing and so helpful! I just got my first set of chicks and am trying to figure out how fast they're going to need new accommodations (they're in a cardboard box right now). I now have a timeline!

I thought it might be helpful/fun to post the growth progress of my 6 chicks; 5 pullets and 1 roo. They are 8 weeks old now, and the latest pics I have of them is the Tuesday before the Friday that is their 'week birthday', but anyway, enough chat, here are my chicks:

-----------

There's my chickens. =) I stopped taking really nice pics of them around week 4-5 so it was a bit hard finding nice ones to post here, but hopefully you can all see their growth progress well enough, and perhaps this will help those looking to compare their own chicks for gender purposes and whatnot or just to see what their chicks of the same breeds might look like at these ages.

And we bought these as all sexed pullets from Wilco, and Pepper is the only one we know for sure is male, and we believe the others are all females.

It's amazing how fast they grow
Thank you sooo much for this wonderful array of pictures. Now I know my recently purchased Red Star chick is one week old. You took a lot of time and did a lot of work to do this and it show! thank you again!
