Sorry about weet weet. We seem to be having issues with the neighbors dogs too. You have every right to shoot the dog(s) in question. I know I'm going to get a lot of "don't kill" crap on here but some people would rather feed the neighbors dog fresh chicken than take care of the problem quickly and humanely. The 3 we are having trouble with are all jet black and a little hard to see in the dark of night. If it were not for that they would have perished long ago. The sheriffs office told me that if they were on my land killing livestock I had every right to shoot. Other than that I had to have pics/video of them doing it to do anything legally. Now how in thecrap am I supposed to video dogs killing my chickens? I can't with a shotgun in the other hand now can I?

sorry to hear about weet weet.

Animal Control my A**, you shoot them plain and simple, you wont get in trouble even if your in city limits.
You wont be able to get your money back for the birds, but the Owner will stay clear of you and make Dang sure his Dogs are locked up.

Sorry Crow I didnt mean for my last post to sound off like that.
I just had a very similar situation and the law told me tough luck, and well after 30 Buff Orps and a Shepard I lost all my common sense and killed the dog.
I live right in front of the town police station, makes things intressting.

I love the SSS policy. As far as people letting their pitt bulls roam free to kill pets etc., I would call the police in a day or two, and tell them the pitts cornered you growling, it may not be illegal for pitts to kill pets, but it certainly is for pitts to attack people. Karen

I had a neighbour's GSP come over the fence and chase my Leghorn Obelisk right out of the yard, over a 6ft stockade fence and a 100 yards down the street. He had even managed to grab her, but she had no bite marks.
I've talked to my ACO and he's a nice guy and said that I can most certainly shoot the SOB.
No problemo, Wolf. I agree. Compost doesn't chase birds.

Check your state laws MOST states have laws that say anything chasing(running) or killing livestock can be shot. It is best to deposit the "VICTEM" on the owners porch, so the get the idea not to let thier new dog (and they will get another) roam wherver it pleases. plus this way you dig a whole for a chicken and they have to dig a whole for a dog.

Its not a bad thing to be known as the nutjob that will shoot anything that bothers his birds
