Has anyone out there kept a record of the weight gain of their meat birds?
I'm going out today to get a food scale to weigh my "meat bird project" chicks, I wish I had got it before so I could have weighed them at hatch, but I'm going to start at 1 week with this batch . . . doyou think I should weigh daily or weekly?
I'm interested in what others have done and kept records of as I would like to compare.
thanks!

My daughter, who is 9, was weighing ours for fun. If memory serves, they were all right about 1.9 oz when we received them (2 days old, maybe) and quickly gained. I'll have to see if she has kept a chart. I know within two days they were 2.9 oz.

I've kept daily weights in the past. Not for Cornish Crosses and I don't still have the charts that the kids made from the data.

I think for meat bird project purposes, weekly is more then sufficient.

Our very first batch of meat birds we weighted every week until about week 5. We wanted to know the weight gain on a weekly bases, to determine exactly when to process them. After week 5 it got to be too hard to cacht them all, and they were to big to weigh on the scale we were using.

1 week weigh in for my first batch of "project" meat birds

1. 3.5 oz
2. 3.4 oz
3. 3.4 oz
4. 3.3 oz

anyone know how this compares to cornish crosses?

my "layers" that hatched the same day weigh between 1.8 & 2.2
